この製品は、「丸編み機」によって編まれたスウェットシャツです。丸編み機は、生地を筒状に編み上げる旧式編み機です。生産効率は低いのですが、低速でゆっくりと編み立られ、余分なテンションがかからずに、糸そのものの柔らかい風合いを生かすことができる希少な編み機です。低速で編まれた生地は、温もりのある味わい深い表情に加え、しっかりとした着心地としなやかな柔らかさを兼ね備えています。そして、丸編み機で編まれたスウェットシャツの最大の特徴が、ボディの脇部に縫い目がない、いわゆる「丸胴」に仕上がる仕様です。現在は量産を重視した高速の編み機が主流になり、丸編み機は時代遅れの技術とされつつあります。しかし、丸編み機で編まれたスウェットシャツには、量産重視の高速編み機では出せない独特の風合いと時代を超えうるタフネスが宿っています。あえて生産効率の低い丸編み機で編むことで、空気を含んで柔らかくも、コシのある強い丸胴生地に編み上がります。また、はぎ目のない服なので、洋服の縫い目が肌に当たらず着心地も良い利点もあります。

また、このスウェットシャツにはワンウォッシュ加工がかけられています。そのため、程よいオールド感とヴィンテージ感が生まれ、クラシックな印象を与えるスウェットシャツに仕上げられています。ワンウォッシュですでに生地の縮みが発生しているので、洗濯後の縮みが少なくサイズ感が安定しているのも利点のひとつです。

ネックリブ(襟周り)は着用を繰り返しても伸びにくい特徴を持つ、耐久性に優れたバインダーネック2本針仕様です。

フロント襟元にはVガゼット(汗どめ)が設けられ、また、袖口と裾のリブはやや長めにされ、ビンテージ感が演出されています。

縫製部分はアウトロックステッチで、デザインのアクセントにされています。

The construction pattern of this solid color sweatshirt is modeled after classic-style loop-wheeling sweatshirts with classic design and the inspiration from classic clothing (sportswear style with military influences), but this basic sweatshirt has been re-designed with the Buzz Rickson's brand own detailing, contemporary interpretation and modernize fit for a more casual look and fashion purpose. The beauty of this piece is the balance of classic construction and modern updates from Buzz Rickson. Made of a 100% cotton unlined, single-ply, pre-washed (one washed) 13-ounce mediumweight loop-wheeled sweatshirt fabric with a soft brushed interior backing. Fabric : 100% cotton 13 Oz. mediumweight sweatshirt fabric. It has a slightly slubby and rugged texture on the face of the fabric with a soft brushed interior backing. It combines durability and the natural softness for comfort. This sweatshirt is washed once for a fashionable vintage feel and look. Pre washed, minimal shrinkage.

Body : Tubular construction (No side seam construction). Made on vintage looms which knit the fabric in a seamless continuous tube known as loop-wheeling. The fabric is produced with minimal tension during knitting process and lack of seams means the garment will keep its shape through wear and washing. It combines durability and the natural softness for comfort. Vintage looms are special machines that are able to knit a perfect tube, but they can only knit one set diameter (size) per loom, so a loom for each size is required. This is why one hardly ever sees perfect tube construction in modern day garments.

Collar : Ribbed crew neck with bound neckband (cover stitch neckband with double stitching). It used for the neck to prevent overstretching. Double layer V-gusset stitching (V-stitch, V-insert, sweat catch) on the front neck for the fashionable vintage feel and look.

Other details : The two-ply knit ribbed sleeve ends and waistband are comfortable and flexible. Vintage style longer ribbed cuff and waistband to to provide fit in the right places. 4-needle flat-locked seams for extra durability and comfort. 4-needle flat-lock seam construction keeps the seam strong and lie flat against the body for comfort. A triangle of rib fabric is inserted underneath the front crew neck collar. The technical name is the V-gusset stitching or V-Stitch or V-Insert. Its use was originally as a means of collecting sweat around the chest and neckline after exercise. In addition to its practical use, the V-inserted was added as a way of controlling the stretch of the neckline when pulling the garment on. This piece made more elastic the neckline and recovering the form again. Lock stitch throughout.
